Originally from Augusta, GA, Corey joins Alpha Edison after living abroad for over a decade, in Europe and the UK, where he was awarded a PhD in Political Science from the University of London, LSE (London School of Economics) in 2017. His thesis: “The trouble with studying The Troubles: How and why an epistemic community emerges” examined the political situation in areas of protracted conflict, particularly in Northern Ireland.
After graduating cum laude from Augusta State University, Corey worked as a Direct Aide to US Congressman John D Barrow (D-GA12th) before moving to Ireland as a Rotary Ambassadorial Peace Scholar, receiving his MPhil in International Relations from Trinity College, Dublin. Then, while living in Amsterdam, he completed the Harvard Business School’s “Conflict Mediation and Negotiation” program, collaborating remotely alongside the New York based human rights organization, Humanity In Action.
During his career, Corey has worked across a diversified range of sectors: security and resilience; automotive; healthcare; public policy and government, for a number of US/UK executives and government officials. As an aide/consultant within the Chertoff Group, the geopolitical risk assessment monitoring company founded by Michael Chertoff, former Secretary, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (2005 – 2009), Corey served under counterterrorism experts including Sir David Veness, and former British Minister of Defense John Reid, Baron Reid of Cardowan.
Outside of work, Corey spends his free time taking Luna, his Husky dog, on (very) long hikes. He’s also an accomplished Latin and Swing dancer, and might be found at Maxwell DeMille’s Cicada Club on Sunday evenings, in The Oviatt Building, one of the last remaining Art Deco-era structures in DTLA.
