Alpha Edison partners with entrepreneurs, portfolio companies, and investors to build category-creating businesses. This policy explains how we handle the information we gather in the course of evaluating investments, supporting our portfolio, working with our limited partners, and operating this website.

Our website is hosted on Squarespace, and our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to prevent automated abuse, which involves sharing certain technical data with Google for that purpose.

Purpose of collection: Primarily to evaluate prospective investments, support our portfolio companies, build and maintain our relationships, and operate and improve this website.

Information Use

We use the information we collect to evaluate and manage investments, communicate with founders, portfolio companies, and investors, meet our reporting and compliance obligations, and improve our services and website.

Sharing and Disclosure

Third-party sharing: We do not share your information with third parties or affiliates for marketing, promotional, or other unrelated purposes. Information may be shared with vetted service providers, including fund administrators, auditors, and legal counsel, essential to our operations and fund obligations.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of Text Message services.

Legal and compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or regulation, or in the good-faith belief that doing so is necessary to comply with legal process or to protect our rights and those of our portfolio companies and investors.

Storage and Security

We have implemented reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the personal information we process, including encryption of information in transit and at rest where appropriate. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot promise that unauthorized third parties will never defeat these measures. Transmission of information to and from our services is at your own risk. Should a data breach occur, we will notify affected parties as required by applicable law.

Data is retained for as long as necessary to fulfill our obligations to portfolio companies and investors, and as required by applicable law and regulation.

We use cookies and similar technologies to improve the experience of visitors to this website. Our website is hosted on Squarespace, which sets cookies necessary for the site to function. You can manage or opt out of these settings through your browser. We do not sell or otherwise release cookie or tracking data.

Text Messaging Terms

Program: Alpha Edison operates a text messaging program for business communications.

Program description: We send text messages only to people who have an existing business relationship with Alpha Edison, who have provided their mobile number, and who have consented to receive them. Messages relate to scheduling, meeting confirmations, document and transaction logistics, and time-sensitive operational follow-ups. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages, and we do not typically use text messaging to offer or solicit any investment.

Message frequency: Message frequency varies and depends on the nature of our ongoing business relationship with you. Messages are not sent on a fixed recurring schedule.

Cost: Message and data rates may apply. Alpha Edison does not charge for participation; your mobile carrier’s standard messaging and data charges apply.

How to opt out: Replying STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, or END to any message will stop further messages from that number. This is handled automatically by the mobile carriers. You may also tell us by any other means that you no longer wish to receive text messages, and we will honor that request. Reply START to resume.

Carrier liability: Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy: Mobile information is handled in accordance with this Data Protection & Privacy Policy, available at alphaedison.com/data-protection-privacy-policy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Record keeping: Business communications to and from Alpha Edison personnel, including text messages, are archived and retained as required by applicable securities regulations.

International Data Transfers

We transfer data internationally only as necessary to support our portfolio companies and investors located outside the United States.
